About Julie

Hello students and parents! I am a Music & Arts guitar and bass instructor with over fifteen years experience in private music education. I have a BA in Education from California State Dominguez Hills, and I am also a graduate from the GIT Musicians Institute with an emphasis in Music Performance! I have taught in the public school system, and I am a state certfied teacher in both Missouri and California. Music education is my passion and I love to work with students of all ages and experience levels!

I have over fifteen years of experience in music performance, both in studio and live shows, and have played with various groups and ensembles in St. Louis, Los Angeles, and Hollywood. I am passionate in my belief that anyone can learn how to play and write music.

I believe in tailoring my lessons to fit the students individual needs and wants. In addition to this, I strive to maintain quality instruction that helps the student meet his or her personal goals. Passing along the love and knowledge of music, performing, and playing an instrument is a high priority within my lessons!

I recommend method books by Mel Bay or Hal Leonard, and I also like to use flash cards to aid in music theory and notation instruction. I like to work with students on chord progressions and scales, and I specialize in teaching guitar solo improvisation. Because of this, I also recomend Hal Leonard Chord and Scale Finders.

My favorite instrument brands are: Fender, ESP, Gibson, and Epiphone, and my guitar of choice is a Gibson Cherry SG.
