Katherine began studying the clarinet fifteen years ago after walking out of her local Music and Arts with her very first instrument. Since then she has graduated from Fairfax County Public Schools with an International Baccalaureate Diploma and received her Bachelors of Music with Teaching Licensure and a minor in Classical Greek from the University of North Carolina where she was a member of the Marching Band, Symphonic Band, Wind Ensemble, University Chamber Players, Opera Orchestra, Pit Orchestra, Women’s Glee Club, Carolina Choir, and the New Music Ensemble. She has taught music in a variety of setting in Charlotte, North Carolina, where she was also a featured soloist with the Charlotte Concert Band, and Northern Virginia where she was a member of of the Fairfax Wind Symphony and Falls Church City Band. Currently Katherine teachers band a charter school in Washington, DC as well as private clarinet, saxophone and flute lessons. In her free time she enjoys practicing yoga, reading and casually sipping lattes. She has studied clarinet performance with Dr. Robert Little, Dr. Edwin Riley and Professor Donald Oehler and wind conducting with Dr. Evan Feldman and is a member of the Virginia Music Educators Association, National Association for Music Education, and Phi Beta Kappa.
