About Katherine

Katherine grew up in Central Texas and began playing cello at the age of 8. She received a Bachelor of Music and a Performer's Certificate, Magna Cum Laude, and a Master of Music in Cello Pedagogy, Summa Cum Laude from the University of Texas in Austin.

Music performances include the Waco Symphony, Utah Chamber Orchestra, Utah Symphony, and Ballet West Orchestra. She currently performs with the St. Louis Philharmonic and the Manhasset String Quartet.

Katherine has taught cello as adjunct faculty at Amarillo College and Brigham Young University. She has taught for thirty three years as a public school orchestra director. She retired recently after teaching twenty three years in the Parkway School District.

Music enriches a person's life no matter their talent or ability.  A person can perform to the level of being a "professional musician" or to the level of being a "music appreciator".  Both are admirable and either path brings about fulfillment and enrichment.  My goal is to help you find your individual musical path.
