About Katie

A Colorado Springs native, Katie Stafford has over sixteen years of music teaching experience. She has a Bachelor's of Music Education degree from University of Northwestern-St. Paul, and she is currently working on her Masters of Music Education from Kent State University.

Currently, she is in her fourth year as the full-time music teacher at Ridgeview Elementary School in District 49 in Colorado Springs. There, she teaches over 600 students and runs before-school choirs and a guitar ensemble. She is also a clarinetist in the Canyon Winds Band and clarinet choir in Colorado Springs. Previously, she was a full-time elementary and middle school orchestra teacher at a public school in Minnesota. She also taught abroad for three years in Africa on the hospital ship the Africa Mercy with the organization Mercy Ships. On board the ship, she taught full-time Kindergarten as well as K-5 music classes. While she lived and taught on the ship, it traveled between the Canary Islands, the Republic of Congo, South Africa, and Madagascar. She absolutely loved being a part of this amazing organization and teaching the incredible students from all over the world.

Katie loves teaching private lessons, and has extensive teaching and performance experience on clarinet, violin, and piano. She strives to create a warm, caring, positive, structured, and exciting environment in her lessons that students look forward to attending. She truly enjoys igniting a love and appreciation for music in children, and transferring her musical passion to them as much as possible! She hopes to see every student's eyes light up with joy as they dive into the wonderful world of music with her.
