About Kevin Kelley
Studied music at Berklee College of Music. Boston 1974-77.
Toured on the East Coast with "The Platters" 1979-80.
Studied with jazz guitarist and fusion pioneer Larry Coryell in 1884.
Founding member of "The Jazz Lobsters," one of the Jersey Shore's greatest jazz, rock, and blues wedding bands that playedthe tri-state area 1985-2005.
I have played both guitar and bass in the orchestra pit bands of the Spring Lake Theater, the Strand Theater of Lakewood, and the Bricktown High School productions 1986-2016.
Performed at Harrah's, Atlantic City with the Platters, Little Anthony, the Crystals, the Diamonds, the Cadillacs, and the Drifters 1984-1991.
Performed on the cruise ship S.S. Norway for the "Rhythm and Blues Cruise," opening for Albert Collins, Jay McShann, and Buddy Guy 1991.
I left the studios and taught privately 1992-2015.
2016 brings me back to teaching in the studios of Music & Arts, where I will be instructing guitar, bass guitar, vocals, mandolin, and ukulele. I will also be hosting clinics that will include Jazz Guitar Performance, Advanced Guitar Improvisation, Rock Band Formation and Execution, and a Recording and Mixing class.
I have been a member of Bernard Purdie's band (the most recorded drummer in the world, over 3000 recordings), doing performances and clinics in NY and NJ.
I celebrated my 50th year of guitar playing in 2012.
