About Kimberlee Mathews

Kimberlee Mathews is a band director and general music teacher for the Mascoutah School District. Prior to that she was the director of bands for Mattoon Middle School, overseeing their concert band, jazz band, and competitive marching band program. She went to Eastern Illinois University where she majored in Music Education with an emphasis in instrumental music. In addition to taking method classes to learn all of the traditional band instruments, she studied advanced saxophone privately for 4 years under the Professor of Saxophone at EIU. She also plays trumpet as a fluent secondary instrument as well as clarinet, and was an active member of EIU's marching band, jazz ensemble, concert band, chamber ensemble, and wind ensemble.

Kimberlee Mathews has been teaching privately for roughly 5 years. Her lessons focus on combining instrument technique and musical literacy with students' own passions and interests for an entirely unique and individual lesson experience per student; no two lessons are the same, just as no two students are the same! Her philosophy of music is that music opens the door for self expression and creativity through dedication and passion, all in a fun and engaging way. Lessons are always flexible in terms of content, and many students bring in their own ideas, interests, and music to work on in addition to what is in the lesson curriculum.

Kimberlee Mathews would love to work with your student and help develop their mastery of and love for their woodwind or brass instrument! Please talk to store staff today to schedule a meet and greet!
