About Laura

Hi, I’m Laura and I teach piano at the Music and Arts location in Westminster, Colorado.  I am originally from Michigan but have lived in Colorado for over sixteen years.  I am a mother of three, a six year old and twins who are three.  I earned my Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music, with a concentration in piano performance, from Alma College, in Alma, Michigan.  I also have a Masters Degree in Public Health from Columbia, South Carolina.

I have over twenty years of experience teaching private piano lessons and have taught beginners, intermediate level students and advanced level students. The ages have ranged from children who are just able to reach the keys to seniors who have played throughout their lifetime and would like to brush up on their skills.  I enjoy the teaching methods of Alfred, Bastien, Faber and Thompson.  However, I’m very open to teaching new methods based on each individual student’s learning style.

I have a passion for teaching piano and work to create a musical spark within all of my students.  Each student is unique and I enjoy creating lessons on an individual basis that are geared toward the student’s abilities and interests as well as building on areas that need strengthening.

Highlights of my musical career include performing the works of Beethoven, Schubert, and Brahms for my college senior recital, performing a Beethoven piano concerto with the Alma College Symphony Orchestra, studying music in Vienna, Austria, and studying piano with a famous classical pianist, Christopher Taylor.
