About Laura Taylor

I have been teaching private piano lessons for children and adults for 15 years using a mixed intervocalic method with an emphasis on landmark notes. I use various piano methods depending on the individual needs of each student. I supplement with Baroque, Classical, Romantic, Contemporary, Jazz, Blues and Pop literature. I also conduct group music workshops to enhance performance, music theory, music history, sight reading, ear training and composition skills. I can also help students with auditions and school music assignments.

I believe most people have an inner musical self and my goal as a piano teacher is to help individuals access their inner musical self through piano education, performance, the discipline of practice, music listening, and group experiences. Through all my years as a piano teacher, I have learned that providing a positive peaceful atmosphere for learning music helps students build confidence and enjoyment so they are motivated to learn and practice. This confidence carries over to other areas of life for students.  My goal is to provide students with the skills they need to continue performing, exploring and enjoying music after lessons have ended. Being able to take the skills learned in piano lessons and apply them to continued piano study, other forms of music study, music performance, music enjoyment and other aspects of life is how I measure success as a music educator.
