Performance Experience: Has performed in the Raleigh-Durham area as a soloist and in various ensembles after moving from Italy after having studied, taught and performed in Europe and Japan for over a decade.
Teaching Experience: Over thirty years of teaching various ages/grade levels in a variety of styles and genres. Has taught at Central Texas College, North Carolina State University, Wake Technical College, Meredith College, Durham Arts Council and in a private studio setting.
Teaching Philosophy: I view learning music as an adventure. I enjoy guiding students in discovering music so that they may develop their own unique musical voice.
Get to know Luciano Suarez
Luciano Joseph Suárez moved to the Raleigh-Durham area from Italy after having lived, taught and performed overseas for over a decade. Although Luciano’s background is primarily classical, this Florida native ventured into jazz relatively later in his life, combining the rich cultural heritage with which he was raised to develop his own musical vocabulary. “Improvisation has always been a big part of who I am as a musician, regardless of what I am playing.”
