About Madeline Miskie

Madeline earned a Doctorate of Musical Arts in Vocal Performance at the University of Maryland, where she was the recipient of the Dean's Music Fellowship.  She completed her M.M. as a member of the Maryland Opera Studio under the direction of Leon Major from the University of Maryland in May 2010.  She earned her bachelors in vocal performance in 2007 from the Eastman School of Music.

 On the professional operatic stage, Madeline has performed with the Harrisburg Opera, Mercury Opera Rochester, The Berkshire Opera, and the Annapolis Opera's Outreach program.  Opera roles include: Berta (Il Barbiere di Siviglia), Beauty #1 (Shadowboxer), Lady with a Hand Mirror (Postcard from Morocco), Giannetta (L’Elisir d’Amore), Arminda (La Finta Giardiniera), Tytania (Midsummer Night’s Dream) and Romilda (Serse), First Lady (Magic Flute), Le Feu / Le Rossignol (L’Enfant et les Sortillèges) and Sandman (Hansel and Gretel). 

 In the Maryland / DC area Madeline has performed as a cantor and guest soloist at several area churches including: Clarendon United Methodist Church (Arlington, VA), St. Francis Episcopal Church (Potomac, MD), Christ Lutheran Church (DC), St. Francis Catholic Church (Derwood, MD), St. Margaret’s Episcopal Church (DC) and St. Peter’s Catholic Chuch (Capitol Hill).

 As a teacher, Madeline is currently a member of the voice faculty at Suitland High School in Suitland, MD and Montgomery College in Silver Spring.  Additional teaching credits include: Belvoir Terrace, a Visual and Performing Arts Camp for Girls in Lenox, Massachusetts (2009-2011, 2013), The Reston Community Center in Reston, VA (2012), Lebanon Valley College Community Music Institute in Annville, PA (2007-2008) and Marty's Music Store in Annville, PA (2007-2008).

 Madeline served as a member of the University of Maryland Graduate Advisory Board for the College of Arts and Humanities during the academic year of 2012-13.  She is an alumni of the Sigma Theta Chapter (Eastman School of Music) of Sigma Alpha Iota, a professional music fraternity for women.
