About Me

My name is Mark, and I started with Music and Arts in August of 2014 at the Hagerstown, MD location.  After about a year and a half in Hagerstown, I took the position down here as manager of the South Frederick location.

I'm first and foremost a guitarist.  I started playing when I was about 10 years old, beginning on an simple Yamaha classical guitar before graduating to a Fender Strat and finally, at 16, a Gibson SG, which remains my favorite guitar.  My secondary instruments include bass guitar and mandolin, both of which I play as often as I can.  I am also working on picking up viola.

Although I initially was a self taught musician, I have been taking guitar lessons for over two years now, and I cannot say enough how much the experience has helped me grow as a musician.

I played in a gigging band through college, with shows from the State Theater in Falls Chruch to the Hard Rock Cafe in Pittsburgh, with many less notable establishments along the way.

Although I have an appreciation of many musical styles, rock is my passion.  I got into music because of the work of bands like AC/DC, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden and their contemporaries.

My favorites instruments are Gibson and PRS guitars, both of which I play through a Victory amp (or sometimes a Marshall or a Blackstar); however, I also own and play instruments by Eastman, Cordoba Gretsch, Fender, Yamaha, Alvarez, and Ibanez.

Thanks for taking the time,
