About Me

Mark has comprehensive experience in performing and teaching drum set, keyboard percussion (mallets), tympani, concert snare and toms and all orchestral percussion. Mark has additional experience with Latin percussion instruments (congos, bongos).

He's taught drum set and percussion to children and adults randing from 4 to 65 years old, and has taught beginners as well as advanced musicians. Areas of instruction include: music reading (including sight-reading), technique (sticks, brushes, mallets), music theory, performance and ear training. Mark has helped students with preparing for auditions for colleges, universities and conservatories, as well as high school, middle and elementary schools.

Mark has performed in various ensembles that include rock, jazz, blues, Latin, big band, concert band, orchestra, chamber music, parades, military and marching band, cabaret and musicals.

Mark has studied with Joey Cass (The Four Seasons), Lou Oddo, Michael Hinton (Broadway, Airto & Flora, Films), Nick Cerrato (Broadway), Rich DeRosa (Gerry Mulligan Band, Marian McPartland), and the late Roland Kohloff (NY Philharmonic tympanist, Chairman of the Percussion Department at The Julliard School in NY).
