About Mary Ellen
This is what Mary has to say about her lessons studio:
I believe that classical music is the foundation on which all other styles of music are built. I also beleive that music lessons should be fun, which is why I intersperse the classical music I teach with pop music as well. I have great patience and set goals that are realistic for each individual student. I believe that parents are a vital link in the learning experience with younger students. For that reason I encourage one parent to sit in on lessons for the first little while. I start lessons with children as young as 7 but I also teach a number of adult students.
I believe that performance opportunities are very important to the development of a musician which is why I provide numerous recital events each year. On top of the recitals available at the store almost every other month I provide outside performances as well. At least twice a year the older students get the opportunity to perform on a harpsicord. We also have Ice Cream Recitals which I host at my home where the students are able to perform a prepared piece on a concert grand piano.
Learning music helps my students to develop self-confidence, a sense of responsibility and the ability to stay focused. Everyone should have the opportunity to take music lessons.
