About Matthew Banks
I have been playing clarinet for fourteen years, placing in the UIL Region III all-region bands and scored superior ratings at Texas State solo and ensemble contests all four years of high school at Garland High School. In college, I played principal clarinet in the University of Evansville Symphony Orchestra and Wind Ensemble, played solo bass clarinet with the Wind Ensemble, played lead alto and tenor saxophone in the jazz ensemble. I also performed on saxophones in many bands and ensembles, and bassoon in the orchestra and wind ensembles. My senior year of college I won the University of Evansville prestigious Gumberts award which recognizes the strongest musician in the Music School.
I teach and play in throughout North Texas, performing a wide variety of different styles and genres, including, western art music, jazz, pop music, blues, and church music.
