Matthew Thompson is an emerging artist and educator in the Washington Metropolitan area. He has performed with the Ellicott City Trombone Choir, Johns Hopkins Symphony Orchestra, Greenspring Valley Orchestra and currently the Kaya Wind Quartet. Matthew has also taught at Overlea High School in Baltimore County for several years and the East Baltimore Community School in Baltimore City. Along with teaching, he has held clinics at local high schools in Baltimore and the Washington Area. Matthew’s influences include Martin McCain, Milton Aldana, Hugh W. Barnes, Jr., Melvin N. Miles, Jr., Lloyd Hoover, Dr. James Lee III, and Larry Williams. Currently, Matthew is the Marketing Intern for the American Studio Orchestra located in Baltimore, Maryland and developing a Saturday band program in Washington, D.C. alongside his high school band director, Mr. Hugh W. Barnes, Jr. Receiving his B.S. in Music, Matthew is a recent graduate of Morgan State University in Baltimore, Maryland.
