He studied with local musician Brian Zielie until high school, learning fundamentals and more advanced concepts. He gained an interest in jazz during this time and began studying it more intensively. During his sophomore year of high school, he was offered a scholarship to attend Berklee College of Music’s five week-summer program. During the program he studied with drummer Skip Hadden. He attended Southern Illinois University Edwardsville and earned a degree in jazz studies. He became involved with the creative music culture in St. Louis and has performed with numerous artists there. After graduating, he re-located to Wayne New Jersey, and enrolled at William Paterson University’s master program.
