About Me

I grew up in Boiling Springs, SC.  I started off taking guitar lessons during elementary school, then I started playing trombone when I joined the middle school band in 6th grade.

Through middle and high school I played in every ensemble I could: marching band, jazz band, and concert band.  I also participated in solo & ensemble festivals and region band.  I loved every minute of being in high school band.  My director made a big impact on me as a musician and a person.

After high school I attended Newberry College and got a bachelors degree in Music Education. While at Newberry I played with the concert band, marching band, brass ensemble, and Jazz Big Band, as well as sang in the choir.  Playing with the jazz band was a great opportunity because I had the chance to play with musicians like Lou Marini and Victor Wooten. In my final year I internshiped with the band programs at Newberry High School and Whitmire Community School.

Since graduating from Newberry College I have been the choir director at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Little Mountain, SC. I have also worked as a substitute teacher for Richland School District 1, as well as the Assistant Band Director at Lower Richland High School.  I attended grad School at the University of South Carolina.

I joined Music and Arts in early 2012 as a lessons teacher for brass instruments.  In October of 2012 I joined the sales team full time.

I still occassionally play guitar, but i make an effort to play my trombone regularly, either on solo work or with ensembles.  Currently I am playing with the Columbia Community Concert Band.
