I have active in music performance and music education since 1971. As a professional musician I have worked for Walt Disney World, Busch Gardens, and the U.S. Navy. I continue to play locally when requested. I am a master teacher at Music and Arts

 

EXPERIENCE

Private Music Instructor, Music And Arts, Virginia Beach, VA — 2017-Present Provide private music lessons to students of all age on guitar, bass guitar, mandolin, plectrum banjo, Violin, viola, Cello and String bass.

Elementary Strings Instructor, Virginia Beach City Public Schools, Virginia Beach, VA — 2017-2019 Provide class music instruction for beginning 5th grade students on violin, viola, and cello. Prepare students for a Winter and Spring concert.

Director of Guitar Studies, Hampton City Schools, Hampton, VA — 2008-2017 Provide class guitar instruction for Kecoughtan High School. Students were able to play mandolin and bass guitar as well. Videos of my guitar ensembles are available on my Youtube channel (Michael Durig) for your review.

Adjunct Professor of Music, Thomas Nelson Community College, Hampton VA — 2013-2017 Provide music instruction to guitar, piano, and viola students per the humanity requirement for graduation.
