About Mike Fogarty
Michael has been playing guitar for 32+ years and started teaching in 1992. He studied as a Classical Guitar Performance Major at Collin College where he was a 4 time scholarship recipient. He was a regular performer in the Collin College Guitar Ensemble throughout his time at the college and was a founding member of the Collin College New Music Ensemble. He has also attended classical guitar master classes with Robert Guthrie at SMU under music scholarship. Michael has studied with many internationally known and distinguished artists. Classical guitar instructors include Robert Guthrie, Robert Harding, Guy Whitmore and others. He has studied jazz guitar with Nick DiGenarro and jazz improvisation and arranging with bassist Kris Berg. He has also had the privilege of studying with rock guitar virtuoso and recording artist Andy Timmons.
Michael is a very active and energetic teacher. He is fluent in electric, acoustic, and classical guitar, along with just about any genre/style of music. Michael lives and breathes guitar as he maintains a rigorous practice regimen for himself and furthers his musical knowledge by consulting with world class guitarists and writing many of his own exercises.
