About Me

My name is Nathan Shoup.  I have been playing guitar for 18 years and I am currently in a band called Folquinox.  We are a 3 piece with guitar,  bass, and mandolin, specializing in folk music. We play mostly originals with a few covers mixed in.  I love acoustic music as I currently play an Alvarez Yairi WY1 acoustic guitar.  I love the guitar and will probably play it for life.  I also own a Breedlove acoustic Passport Dreadnought which I purchased form Music & Arts.  For the price, it might be one of the best sounding guitars I have ever played.   I grew up on the Doors, Beatles, Hendrix, Chuck Berry, Led Zepplin, and old school rap.  I then discovered String Cheese, Phish, Dave Matthews, Ben Harper, Grateful Dead, G. Love, Martin Sexton, Atmoshpere, Ani DIfranco, System of a Down, and many more.  The list could go on and on.  I am also currrently a member of the Columbus Songwriters Association which started about two years ago.  I grew up playing sports but was always playing guitar "behind the scenes".   My love for music far outweighed my love for sports.

I am currently attending Franklin University to earn my BS in Business Management.  My hobbies include writing, singing, playing guitar, and working out.  I am priveledged to be a part of Music & Arts and look forward to what the upcoming months will bring.
