Pamela M. Johnson graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Music Education from West Chester University, Pennsylvania in 1990.
Pamela has enjoyed performing with several Philadelphia and Chester County based orchestras, theater productions, chamber ensembles, and as a soloist on flute, clarinet, and saxophone from her youth through current day. Skilled on piano as well, she has accompanied numerous choirs and soloists.
Ms. Johnson has taught in a variety of educational settings for over 25 years such as school band director, general music teacher, and children’s choir director, but her favorite is to work one-on-one with private students to develop their individual strengths, meet their needs, help enhance their talents, and become the best musicians they can be. She hopes that not only her student’s musical abilities will grow, but that they will achieve a greater appreciation of music and the arts while having fun!
Pamela’s students range from beginner to advanced musicians from all ages. Her students have merited top chairs and leadership positions in their school bands throughout Chester County. Many have gone beyond the average to perform in honorary groups such as the Chester County Youth Orchestra http://www.ccyo.org/ , the Liberty Youth Wind Symphony http://www.libertywindsymphony.org/high-school-wind-ensemble.html , and District, Regional, and PMEA State Bands. In 2014 and 2015, Pamela and a handful of her flute and clarinet students performed on stage at Verizon Hall with members of the Philadelphia Orchestra at their featured “PlayIN” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3a54B2ZVD5Q&feature=youtu.be . Some former students have even gone on to become music teachers and professional musicians themselves.
Recital opportunities are available for students to perform solos or with ensembles to give them goals to work toward and venues to share their talents with others.
Pamela teaches using a variety of traditional lesson books and modern styles of music. She looks forward to creating wonderful music with you!
