About Patricia Rogers

My name is Patricia Rogers and I teach Violin & Viola.  I relocated to Tucson from New York State with my husband John and Pomeranian, Mr. Foxx.  We are enjoying our new life in Arizona.  In our spare time, we enjoy working on our new home, hiking, enjoying the natural splendors of Tucson, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.

I am a classically trained violin and viola teacher with over 30 years experience working with students both in the school system and privately.  I am a firm believer that music can change lives for the better.  My goal in teaching is to equip each student with the necessary skills, technique, passion and drive to experience the fulfillment of improvement and nurture their love of music.  I also help students with challenging school music, prepare them for auditions, exams and playing tests.  I have maintained long standing relationships with some of my students whom I have taught from K through 12.

My educational background took place in the Philadelphia, PA area.  I studied with Edgar Ortenberg, who was one of the original members of the Budapest String Quartet and a Professor at Temple University; Barbara Sonies, a member of the Philadelphia Trio and Professor at Rosemont College; Jascha Brodsky, a Professor at the Curtis Institute of Music; Geoffrey Michaels, a Professor at the Curtis Institute of Music, Swarthmore College, and Princeton University; and Chris Teal a Professor at Vanderbilt University and Meadowmount.  My chamber music and orchestral instructors were Barbara Sonies, Yumi Scott, Joseph Primavera, and William Smith, the assistant conductor of the Philadelphia Orchestra at that time.  I graduated from Chestnut Hill College in 1980.

Upon moving to New York State, I began performing and teaching.  I was a member of the Glen's Falls Symphony, Lake George Chamber Orchestra, and  St. Cecilia Chamber Orchestra.  I was a member of the Saratoga Local Musicians Union and accompanied Josh Groban, Sara Brightman, The Who, Natalie Cole, Yes, Burt Bacharach & Aretha Franklin, the Irish Tenors, the Manhattan Transfer, Johnny Mathis and others.  I also performed for weddings, social events and in the ensemble of my church choir.  I taught in the school system and approximately 50 students weekly at my home studio.

I am happy to call Tucson my new home and continue to pursue my passion as a music educator.
