Mr. Patrick Sunga is the Orchestra Director at the Young Woman’s Leadership Academy in Grand Prairie Texas. He is one of two Orchestra Directors in charge of the largest Orchestra Programs in GPISD with a group totaling over 270 orchestra students. He is a graduate of the University of Texas in Arlington where he studied cello performance with Dr. Elizabeth Morrow and graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Music Education with a focus in string pedagogy. During his attendance in UTA he performed as a cellist in the UTA Symphony Orchestra, studying and performing under the Baton of Dr. Sergio Espinosa and Dr. Cliff Evans. He was also a member of the UTA Mixed Choir under the direction of Professor Jing Ling-Tam. Mr. Sunga teaches privately at Music and Arts on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. He is a member of Texas Music Education Association (TMEA) as well as the Texas Orchestra Directors Association (TODA). Mr. Sunga started his musical journey in a Catholic Children’s Choir in Toronto Canada at the age of 4. Upon moving to South Texas, he began his cello studies in Middle. School. When scheduling permits he is a freelance cellist around DFW for weddings and different performance opportunities. When Mr. Sunga is away from performing and directing he enjoys running, cycling, swimming and tennis. If you have any questions, please give the store a call and ask about taking lessons with Patrick!
