Paul teaches piano at the Music & Arts store in South Austin, Texas. Born and raised in New York metropolitan area. Undergraduate degree from the University of Notre Dame. Upon finishing school, relocated to Chicago in 1994 and worked as blues/rock sideman for several years. Returned to New York in 1998 to study jazz and Latin jazz with Bruce Barth and Delfin Perez, and to study classical piano with Martin Soderberg. Formed a trio. Recorded an album. Scored two films. Moved to Austin in 2001. Did his graduate work in Composition with a Jazz Emphasis at The University of Texas. Has played with every major Latin jazz and Salsa ensemble in Texas. Winner of Univision’s Premios de Texas 2006 award for Best New Artist and 2007 award for Best Salsa/Merengue. Has played with some of the biggest names in Salsa, including legendary Puerto Rican singer Tony Vega who said of Paul to a crowd one evening in San Antonio, TX (in Spanish), “This guy may not understand a word I am saying, but he gets the soul of the music…” Leader of Latin orchestra Timberos Del Norte and producer/composer of their debut recording (2014). Continues to compose/produce across many genres. Member of the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences and the Latin Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences. A father of two, he enjoys teaching all ages and skill levels.
