I was born on the 5th day of June 1957 to Pastor Mariano & Maria Caneso. I was the second of six children, the eldest son. I attended Kalihi Waena Elementary School, Kalakaua Intermediate School, and then graduated from Farrington High School in 1975. After high school I went to Leeward Community College and the University of Hawaii where I majored in music performance in voice. I also was in The University of the Pacific Conservatory of Music from 1981 – 1984. From 1976 – 1981 I was a soccer coach at Farrington High School becoming the head coach in 1977. I also coached track and football.
While just in the 9th grade I had my first paid job as a musician and I continued to be a professional musician until today. I have played for a variety of groups and singers in Waikiki as well as singers from throughout the world. Some of the most notable singers and shows that I performed with include Jim Nabors, Don Ho, Andrae Crouch, Ron Kenoly, Bebe & Cece Winans, Dick Jensen, The Surfers, Martha Munizi, Kirk Whalum, Victor Wood, Imelda Papin, Julius Obregon, Jun Pulistico, Jonathan Potenciano, Eddie Mesa, Roberto Nievera, Martin Nievera, Gary Valenciano, Lani Misalucha, and as well as many others.
In 1972 I helped to organize a singing group in The Way of Salvation Church called the King’s Melodiers. In 1976 I started the group called The Rising Stars that consisted of my siblings as well as other musicians from the church. They recorded two albums and sang throughout Hawaii, the mainland United States, and the Philippines.
My role in The Way of Salvation Church started at the very young age of 3 by singing solos and duets with my sister Jewel. Just before I was 5 I joined the choir. When I was 16 years old I became the director of the choir and served in that capacity until I resigned in April of 2010 .
I became part of the music staff of Morris Cerullo World Evangelism in 1989 serving in the annual World Conference and other events. I also served as a musician with the Benny Hinn Ministries.
In December 2001, I resigned from my job as a tour bus driver for Polynesian Hospitality to help my parent at their church. I was a music teacher at Kalihi Waena Elementary School and also does private music instruction in the U.S. and also via internet.
Besides music courses, I also teach management, leadership courses, and discipleship courses. I teach music and voice privately through my company called Music Masters Hawaii. I enjoy teaching music to anyone who wants to learn. I have been blessed with the ability to play more than 50 different types of instruments. I also teach and train people in public speaking. I have emceed many functions throughout Hawaii and the United States as well as in the Philippines. I also once served on the board of The Way of Salvation Church, and also The Christian Center for the Performing Arts.
I am a very busy musical performer playing 6 nights a week in various venues. I was for a short time the music director of the Honolulu Shriners Potentate Jazz Band. I also played for the Thursday Night Jazz Band Prior to moving to Seattle Washington, I played in 6 different bands in Honolulu, Hawaii ranging from pop, R&B, jazz, to salsa. I was also the music director of the Wahine Mele choir.
Since moving to Seattle, I joined 2 different bands with the possibility of doing some solo gigs.
