About Larry

          
 
       Larry Farr graduated cum laude from Illinois Wesleyan University with a Bachelor's in Music Ed. and earned his Master's in Music Ed. at the University of Illinois.  Mr. Farr did his doctoral studies in music performance at Boston University where he was awarded assistantships in conducting and music theory.  He served as assistant director of the Boston University Jazz Band and he performed with members of the Boston Pops.  Mr. Farr was the band director and brass instructor at the University of Alaska, Dodge City Community College, and Southern Utah State College.  His doctoral studies in Music Ed. continued at Brigham Young University with an assistantship in conducting and music theory.  He was also the director of the ROTC Concert Band.  Mr. Farr has been a trombone soloist and he has performed as a trombonist with orchestras and brass ensembles nationwide.  He is an experienced band director and music instructor at all levels of public and private school.  He is currently the professor of music and art history at Montreat College in Charlotte and he teaches piano and all band instruments.
