About Richard Alfonso
A lifelong musician, Mr. Alfonso has dedicated endless hours to performing and teaching. He has degrees in music education from Central Connecticut State University and attended the masters program at the Hartt School of Music at the University of Hartford specializing in instrumental pedagogy.
A longtime member of CMEA and NAfME, he also is involved in Ct Allstate band adjudication and holds a Connecticut professional teachers certificate in music education. Ricky has taught trumpet privately for many years and at Wesleyan University, the Hotchkiss School and Rocky Hill High School and is recently semi-retired from the University of Saint Joseph after twenty three years as a full time music instructor.
Performing and recording throughout New England at jazz festivals and other venues, Mr. Alfonso continues to strive for great performance and teaching practices. His commitment to quality trumpet instruction is a top priority. Keeping up with the latest best teaching practices while utilizing tried and true methods, he believes that all students can excel and playing music should be fun, rewarding and is vital to a well-rounded lifestyle.
