Retail Manager - N
My name is Rick Nicholson. I'm the manager of the Littleton Music & Arts store on West Bowles Ave. My family has been making music in the south Denver Metro area for five generations.
I was born and raised in Englewood where I started my musical career in the Englewood Public schools as a fourth grade violist. Eventually I switched to tuba and added bass. I attended Englewood High school where I played both bass and tuba in the marching band, jazz band, orchestra, concert band, wind ensemble, pit orchestras and as a rhythm section player for the jazz and pops choirs. Upon graduation from, high school I moved to Grand Junction and studied Electronics Tech and Music Education at Mesa State College.
I started with Music & Arts in 1997 as the Denver warehouse & distribution manager and in 2000 I took on the responsibility of Affiliate Representative for Colorado. In the spring of 2001 I became the Ed Rep for the North Denver/Boulder area where I served the school music programs of 10 different school districts From Englewood, Littleton and Jeffco to Longmont and Loveland. In the fall of 2012, after a little over 11 years on the road the idea of staying in one place all day started to interest me so I made the move to the retail storefront at Littleton.
I still play bass and tuba regularly with various area groups. I play on an Kay Double Bass built in 1952 while my main electric bass rig is a Warwick Corvette 5 string fretless bass through an Ampeg SVT-3 Pro amp and SVT-410 Classic cabinet. My tuba is a Conn 24J, 4 short action offset valves, 6/4 size recording tuba, my Sousaphone is a King by H.N. White.
