      Performance Experience: He has performed with numerous professional and ameteur theaters in Baltimore MD and Frederick MD. He has performed in many solo recitals in the Frederick MD area for charitable causes. He has performed in recitals for two piano repertoire. He has performed as soloist with several local and professional orchestras such as Potomac Symphony Orchestra in Hagerstown, MD, Towson University Orchestra in Towson MD, Calvary Concerts in Frederick MD, and Frederick Spires Band in Frederick MD
      Teaching Experience: Private Piano Studio Instructor since 1970 for self, from 1972 to 1976 at Colonial Music Shop in Frederick, MD, and since 1993 for Music and Arts at Germantown MD
      Teaching Philosophy: My teaching philosophy is that studio instruction in piano are lessons in music and music appreciation with application on the keyboard/piano. Repertoire is a large part of my curriculum, but the understanding of the actual process of making music come to life is a joy like none other. I often insert an appropriate anecdote from music history or my own personal life during the lessons, which my students enjoy.

      Get to know Robert Freed

      Robert M. Freed is an experienced piano instructor, teaching since 1970. He holds an advanced certificate of study from the Peabody Preparatory Department of the Peabody Conservatory of Music in Baltimore, Maryland and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Towson University with dual majors in Music (Piano Performance) and Mathematics (Secondary Education). He has also had post graduate studies at Towson University.

      He has studied piano pedagogy with Dorothy T. Freed at Hood College in Frederick, MD and also with N. Jane Tan at Towson University. He has attended many piano teachers’ workshops and master classes for the improvement of teaching skills.

      He has experience teaching exceptional children including those with autism, ADD, and ADHD.

      He has a passion for music and music education which was instilled in him at the early age of four years by his mother, Dorothy T. Freed who was an inspirational and well respected instructor of applied piano in the larger community of Frederick MD, as well as at Hood College, Frederick MD.
