Robert Wilshire has been teaching guitar for over fourteen years to adults and children. He played in rock bands during high school until he went to Biola University to study classical guitar. During his time there he also studied jazz theory and composition, performing with the Biola University Jazz Band. He enjoys performing and teaching rock, blues, jazz, fingerstyle, classical, and also teaches composition. He plays regularly at Humble Area First Baptist Church. He also performs locally with the Honeyboy Nelson Band. He teaches many instruments such as guitar, bass, mandolin, and ukulele. Robert brings a passion for playing and teaching, and loves to encourage innovation in terms of playing or music composition. He believes it’s important to be exposed to, and learn, a variety of styles, as well as sight-reading, improvisation, and music theory. Having taught college English composition courses for twelve years, he brings the same love of teaching and creativity to his guitar instruction. He is bilingual (Spanish).
