Robin McLaughlin has appeared as a piano soloist with the Houghton College Wind Ensemble, and has also performed at the Kennedy Center. She has experience with both classical and sacred music, and frequently premieres works by living composers.

Robin takes a special joy in developing the broader musician, focusing on key areas such as piano technique, listening, musical vocabulary, and notation literacy. Because children learn through play. lessons frequently include singing, movement, and games designed to build musicianship. Lessons for older children and adults are tailored according to student needs, and self-determined learning outcomes.

As a composer, Robin's work has been performed throughout the United States, and has been recognized by ASCAP and the Amercian Composers Forum. A frequent collaborator, she has written for ensembles such as the Red Clay Saxophone Quartet, the Norfolk COntemporary Ensemble, the Oraia Reed Quintet, Present~Continuous, and the Houghton College Philharmonia.

Robin received her MM in Music Composition from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. In her undergraduate studies, she obtained a dual Bachelor of Music Degree in Vocal Music Education and Music Composition from Houghton College, where she studied piano with Bill-John Newbrough and Sharon Johnson.
