Throughout High School Ryan continued to expand his versatility as a drummer and percussionist. He was the principal percussionist for the schools wind ensemble, center snare and drum captain, as well as the drum set player for the lead jazz band. Awards and accommodations continued for Ryan, and in his senior year was awarded the Luis Armstrong Jazz Award, as well as the Bank of America scholarship for Fine Arts. At this time he also began to teach privately from home, and to work as a drum instructor at his old middle school. Upon graduation, Ryan auditioned at Northern Arizona State University where he was awarded with a full out of state tuition scholarship by Dr. Steven Hemphill, but declined the offer.
Ryan decided instead to go to his dream school of Fullerton College, as this school had a special place in his heart because of his yearly competing in the Fullerton Jazz Festival. He is currently the Principle Percussionist at the college and has performed and worked with nearly every ensemble the school has to offer. Ryan has become an extremely in demand percussionist and currently plays with some of Orange Counties top Orchestras and is an endorsed educator with Vic Firth. He is currently working on his undergraduate degree in Percussion Performance with plans on getting his Masters from a music conservatory.
