About Me

Sam Kearney holds a B.M. of Music Education, with concentrations in Woodwind Pedagogy and Jazz Studies, from Capital University.  He has performed with numerous jazz ensembles and is a member of the small jazz combo “Groove Pavement.”  In addition to private lessons, he has also taught woodwinds with band camps for Olentangy and Madison Plains high schools and the Bands of America Summer Symposium.  He currently serves as a substitute music teacher for over 25 districts across central Ohio.

Sam specializes in jazz saxophone and clarinet, but his expertise ranges across a wide variety of musicians.  His teaching centers around encouraging his students to develop their listening abilities, understand music theory, and learn “how to learn” and grow as musicians.
