About Sandy Maples
Hello, My name is Sandy Maples, and I love teaching piano!!!
I graduated from West Virginia University with a degree in Music Education as a piano major and a piano performance minor. While in college, I taught piano in the preparatory department and accompanied many soloists and choral groups. Upon graduation, I taught elementary music in the Frederick County Public Schools and have been teaching private piano lessons for over 30 years. I attended graduate school and received a masters equivalent in music education with an emphasis in piano and music education. I served as president of the West Virginia Piano Teachers Association and am a member of the Maryland Music Teachers Association.
It is my goal to provide a well rounded musical education for my students as well as develop in them a love for the art of music. Learning musical skills teaches discipline, positive self-esteem, poise, expression, and goal setting. Learning to play the piano should also be a fun experience to explore the creativity and imagination that music can bring. Parental support and encouragement are vital to the success of the student along with daily practice depending on the level and age of student. Lessons include theory, technique, repertoire, sight reading and memorization.
I look forward to meeting new students, children and adults, and introducing them to the world of music.
