About Sara Pezel
Born in Chicago, Sara started her musical journey in 2001 when she started learning to play the violin. At first a fun hobby, music spiraled into more than she could ever imagine- her entire life. Fourteen years later she graduated from Northern Illinois University with a Bachelor's degree in music education with violin as her primary instrument and guitar as her secondary instrument. She's performed in many ensembles including; various orchestras around the Chicago area including Kishwaukee Symphony Orchestra, Elgin Symphony Orchestra, Aurora Youth Symphony Orchestra, Fox Valley Youth Orchestra, and others. She has also performed in various bluegrass and fiddle bands, and starting in 2013 a rock band called, Fade Resort. She listens to all types of music, but is heavily influenced by metal, jazz, and classical music.
Sara currently teaches at the Doral Academy Saddle Campus as the middle school orchestra director, and the elementary violin teacher and is in her fifth year of teaching in school. Previously, she taught in Yorkville, Illinois as a 5th and 6th grade orchestra director. Her students have enjoyed many performance opportunities both in and outside of school. They even played during a Chicago Wolves game at the All-State Arena! Sara has taught violin, viola, cello, bass, and guitar privately for seven years years.
