About Sarah

Sarah Barham is a concert pianist and teacher. She has studied piano for 18 years and has 4 and a half years of teaching experience. In May 2017, she graduated cum laude from the University of Maryland with a B.M. in Piano Performance and a B.A. in Vocal Performance, having studied with Dr. Mayron Tsong and Linda Mabbs. Throughout college, she maintained a small private piano studio and drew upon her own knowledge and experience as well as the pedagogical training she received at UMD. Sarah has studied classical piano since the age of 5 and has been an active competitor and performer in the DC Metropolitan area for most of her life. At the age of 15, Sarah débuted with both the Capital City Symphony and the JMU Symphony Orchestra in performances of Liszt’s Totentanz. Since then, Sarah has won numerous competitions along the East Coast and has performed at venues such as the Kennedy Center Mainstage and Millenium Stage, the Weill Recital Hall in NYC, the Atlas Performing Arts Center in DC, and the Alden Theater in McLean, VA. More recently, her reach has extended to include Bald Head Island, NC and Fort Worth, TX. In the past several years, Sarah has worked with brilliant pianists and pedagogues such as Leon Fleisher, Christopher Elton, Brian Ganz, Arnaldo Cohen, Jean-Louis Haguenauer, Anton Nel, Anthony DeMare, and Harold Martina. Sarah is passionate about sharing music with new audiences and hopes to pass on this love to players of all ages and skill levels.
