Get to know Steven Spinosa
Hello,
My Name is Steven Spinosa. I am a Woodwind Instructor at Music & Arts of Toms River, N.J. I am a retired Music Educator. I have earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music Education with a concentration in Woodwinds and Voice from New Jersey City University and a Master’s Degree in Administration and Educational Leadership and Supervision from St. Peter’s University in Jersey City, New Jersey.
I currently am enjoying my retirement years with my wife, MaryEllen. We both have been educators in the Weehawken Township School District for 40 years.
My favorite instruments are the saxophone, clarinet and flute. I also love to sing. I practice everyday to keep my voice and instrumental skills strong. I love performing with the choir and as a Leader of Song at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Toms River, NJ.
I teach beginners through intermediate levels. At each level, I work to challenge all students, appropriate to their age and experience level. My mission is to help all students learn to play an instrument of their choosing, as well as to help them find their passion for music whether it be for personal or professional reasons.
I teach music using a vast array of materials. I urge my students to keep an open mind in order to experience different genres of music. Whether it be scales and exercises, classical, pop, jazz, rock, international or world music, I use all types of music to encourage students to enhance their reading and listening skills and to have an understanding of cultures and time periods from the eras from which the music was written and composed.
