Music expresses that which cannot be said and on which it is impossible to be silent - Victor Hugo
I also studied voice with Dr. Tim Mussard (UCLA) and the leading baritone of the Metropolitan Opera, Frank Guarrera. After two years of study, I won the regional San Francisco Opera Competition and represented the Northwest in the finals at the War Memorial Opera House in San Francisco. I have also worked as a free-lance singer and was the vocal soloist at many area churches.
I utilize both my flute and vocal training in my lessons. I recognize that each student has different playing abilities and goals and try to personalize my lessons for each student. Sometimes, I have to get very creative! In my studio, students will be given the opportunity to participate in yearly recitals, open-mic events at Music & Arts, community performances, and flute choir (with an opportunity to play alto and bass flutes). I am currently branching out into world flutes, studying the Native American flute and Chinese Dizi flute and will be introducing students to other world cultures through their flutes and flute music.
Music has always been a big part of my life, and I am excited to share my love of music with the next generation.
