About Trueman

Trueman Allison has taught with Music & Arts, formerly Colonial Music, since 2001 and has over 30 years of teaching experience. He holds a B.M.E. from Capital University and an M.S. in Music Education from the University of Illinois. His teachers include Otto Eifert, Martin James, and Christopher Weait and Louis Skinner. While obtaining his Masters, he taught Conducting and supervised Music Education student teachers in the Chicago suburbs. He has also completed all the coursework for a Doctorate of Music Education at the University of Cincinnati College, Conservatory of Music, at which he taught the Music Education Woodwind Methods class and headed the Music Education Lab.  He served for 12 years as the senior teacher at the Fort Hayes School for the Performing Arts. While there, he conducted the Concert Band and taught numerous courses including AP Music Theory, Music History, Composition, and Classical Music. 

Mr. Allison has performed for 17 years with the Columbus Symphony Orchestra and as a freelance musician. He has toured Central and South America as principal bassoonist with the University of Illinois Concert Band.  As a member of the International Double Reed Society, he has presented at their annual conference and his articles have been published in their journal The Double Reed.

Mr. Allison teaches at our Reynoldsburg and Worthington locations. For the past several years, he has helped Music & Arts organize Double Reed Day, a day devoted to central Ohio oboe and bassoon students.
