About Me

Hello there! My name is Vaughn and I am clarinet and saxophone instructor for Music & Arts. I started playing both clarinet and saxophone at the age of 11 and have been teaching private lessons since 2009. In high school and college I studied under Michael Cyzewski (North Carolina Symphony) and Dr. Anthony Taylor (University of North Carolina at Greensboro). I also participated in numerous honor ensembles, including the North Carolina All-State Band, the Carolina Band Festival, and the North Carolina Triangle Youth Symphony. I am currently playing clarinet and saxophone for the Montgomery County Community Band.

I received a BM in music composition from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro in 2014, and have written pieces for small ensembles, bands, orchestras, and film. Current projects include an orchestral suite, a clarinet concerto, and a music score for a feature-length animated film.
