Wendy Keene has been teaching and performing for over 40 years. She began playing music during her middle school years and continued her education at James Madison University and Christopher Newport University. Wendy has performed professionally as a soloist and a member of ensembles on all three instruments. She was the principal cellist with the York River Symphony Orchestra and the Hampton University Community Orchestra for over 10 years. She was also a section cellist with the Petersburg Symphony.
Wendy's teaching philosphy focuses on having fun while playing string instruments through classical music. She inspires her students to develop a love of music by sharing it with others. Wendy aims to create a well-rounded student by helping with academic achievements through music, and by gaining self-confidence and public presentation through performance. When not performing or teaching, Wendy enjoys training and showing her Bernese Mountain dogs.
