About Kai Sun
Kai Sun is a Chinese-American saxophonist, born in Beijing, China (c.1988), and is a classically-trained saxophonist, performing regularly and teaching privately as part of his career. He has performed at distinguished venues such as The Kimmel Center in Philadelphia, PA and The Schermerhorn Symphony Center in Nashville, TN. Kai graduated from Temple University in Philadelphia, where he was a student of Matt Levy: Executive Director and tenor saxophonist the world-renowned PRISM Saxophone Quartet, and received a dual-degree in Performance and Music Education at West Chester University. Kai currently lives in the Mount Vernon area of Baltimore, where he attends the Peabody Conservatory, studying with one the great contemporaries of concert saxophone: Gary Louie.
As a teacher, Kai works with his students closely, on a goal-oriented and technical level, in order to develop basic and advanced skills necessary to grow as a musician at any level. Students of his receive lots of attention, and have auditioned successfully for all-state/county bands and college-level music programs.
