About Zachary

Classical guitarist and Lutenist, Zachary Grim began playing guitar at age eleven after buying his first guitar. After a few years of taking jazz and blues lessons, Mr. Grim decided to pursue classical guitar study with John Arnold. Immediately he was taken by his teacher's infectious passion, and resolved to study music to the professional level. As a concert artist today, Zachary believes that much can be learned about a person and how they live their lives through their playing.  It is this principle that guides his highly customized performances wherein Mr. Grim communicates with audiences through his music.

As a performer, Mr. Grim has quickly developed a reputation for himself. A tireless advocate for the guitar and it's repertoire, Zachary presents his concert programs in both traditional and non-traditional venues to bring the guitar to the varying corners of society.  Mr. Grim has appeared as an artist for the Bethlehem Bach Choir, Pennsylvania Sinfonia Orchestra, Allentown Band, Wilmington Classical Guitar Society, Cheyenne Classical Guitar Society, Colorado Springs Guitar Society, Boulder Guitar Society, Denver Guitar Workshop, Guitar Society of Northern Colorado, and the Lehigh Valley Classical Guitar Society. As an award-winning musician, Zachary has appeared on television and radio, and has been featured in print on numerous occasions.

Mr. Grim holds two Bachelor's degrees from West Chester University and a Master's degree from the University of Denver, where he received the Outstanding Recital award. His most influential teachers have been Jonathan Leathwood, Jason Vieaux, Laura Husbands, Mark Rimple, and John Arnold. Zachary has performed in master classes for artists such as Oscar Ghiglia, Sharon Isbin, Raphaella Smits, Ricardo Gallén, Nigel North, and the Los Angeles Guitar Quartet. This fall he will begin his doctoral studies at the Peabody Conservatory with Julian Gray.
