Teaching Philosophy: My philosophy is very simple. I push my students while also being a mentor. As a person of color, mentorship is very important to me. I always tell my students that they don't have to want to pursue a career in music for them to have fun and appreciate this beautiful art. I prefer for my student to fail at something then to overwork themselves to the point of exhaustion. Music is supposed to be fun and we should all have a balance between serious practice and having fun!

Get to know Aaron Escobar

My name is Aaron Escobar. I have lived in the Northern Virginia most of my life. I began my musical journey in Houston Texas when I was 10 years old. I was introduced to Percussion in middle school and my love for the art grew immensely. I later moved back to Virginia where I was in my high schools percussion section. I was an All District Band Percussionist every year of my high school career. I also played snare drum for the drum line all 4 years. In 2016 I enrolled at George Mason University where I graduated with a degree in Physics in 2021. Through out my college career I have been the musical tech for the John R Lewis High School drumline. I have been part of the rebuilding for that program. That drum line has won numerous awards within Northern Virginia Marching Competitions.
