Get to know Alesya Borisyuk
I am a classically trained musician and I love everything about music: from the technical aspects of figuring out how to hold the bow to the fascinating complexities of harmony! I enjoy performing, studying, teaching, and even writing music! Ever since I can remember, music has been an integral part of my life: my parents signed me up for violin at age 7 and from then on, I studied, performed, became more fascinated in the larger aspects of music so I decided to pursue it. One of the greatest things that I am so grateful to have been a part of is being a member of my local Slavic-community's Music Program - along with a few music professionals and enthusiasts, we created a place in our community and church where music is passed on to the next generation.
After performing in various settings with private ensembles and with Belmont University, I slowly started to delve into conducting - but I love every time I am able to perform! Since 2015, I have been active in music composition and conducting at my local church's band, string orchestra, and symphony. My primary instrument is the violin, but while in college, I embraced the viola and cello. I am the lead choral conductor at Slavic Baptist Church. Once a person develops a drive, a passion for music, I believe that he/she becomes engrossed in more than just one aspect of music - I believe in expanding and continuing to grow in doing something that one loves doing. I have been told that my love for music is evident through my teaching and ability to lead and for that, I am even more grateful!
