About Alex

Get to know Alex
The music career of Alex Buss starts at the Liberty Hill middle school band as a trumpet player. After two weeks of trying to become a trumpet player, tuba became the only viable option because out of a class of 70 or so kids 30 of them were trumpet players and only 4 were tuba players. This was the start of an unusual career as a multi-instrumentalist.
In high school, Alex got the opportunity to play different instruments every year at Harker Heights high school. For marching seasons, Alex played sousaphone, baritone sax, and baritone. For concert seasons, Alex played baritone sax, bassoon, bass trombone. For jazz band, he played tenor sax, trumpet, and bass trombone. By the end of high school, Alex came to find jazz to be his passion and wanted to make a career out of playing and teaching it to generations to come.
After graduating high school, Alex went on to work several different jobs to save up money to study music at Temple College as a upright bass student. Alex now currently plays in the orchestra, jazz band, and jazz combos. After college Alex will go on to become a music director for the public schools in the state of Texas.
