About Alex Turney

I'm passionate about sharing the joy of music with students of all ages and skill levels. With over 10 years of experience as a music instructor, and nearly 20 years of playing and performing, I've had the privilege of witnessing the transformative power of music firsthand.

Music has taken me across the United States. Growing up near Houston Texas, I took guitar lessons from a young age and developed an interest in piano. Later on, I had the opportunity to study music at Boston College where I earned my undergraduate degree, and now my journey in music continues here in Virginia with post-bacc work at VCU.

Although I specialize in classical guitar, I have experience with a wide variety of genres and styles. I believe that lessons should equip you with the skills and knowledge to realize your passions, so let me know what kind of music you like!
