Get to know Ali Hordeski

Ali’s passion for teaching piano developed through her rewarding experiences as a piano instructor over the past 8 years. Her first step on this journey was teaching piano at Burn Brae Day Camp of the Creative Arts in her hometown outside of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. In 2020, Ali received her Bachelor of Music degree in Piano Performance from Susquehanna University. Through Susquehanna’s Music Preparatory Program, Ali taught numerous piano students during her 4-year degree, ranging from age 3 to adult. Feeling the drive to further pursue her passion for teaching piano, Ali is currently working toward a Master of Music degree in Piano Pedagogy from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. There, she teaches piano through the School of Music’s Private Lesson Program.

In addition to her background in piano education, Ali has equal practice in the realm of performance. She has played a large range of keyboard repertoire spanning everywhere from harpsichord pieces of the early baroque era to contemporary ensemble pieces written by her talented colleagues at University. Besides dozens of solo and collaborative performances at Susquehanna University and UNCG, Ali has performed with the West Shore Symphony Orchestra in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, and at Niigata University during her study abroad experience to Japan.

When she is not immersed in teaching or playing piano, Ali can often be found dancing. Dance has always been a part of Ali’s life, and she believes this type of artistic movement has a definite place in the field of music education. Her piano students move, dance, sing, laugh, and truly play piano in their lessons.
