Aliyah Book, American Saxophonist and Multi-Woodwind Expert, Musician, and Music Educator.
Ms.Book first discovered her love of music through her classical ballet training. She experience early success as a repeat qualifier in the State of Texas' TMEA and TJEA Region, Area, and All-State music competition level. Despite her youth, she has performed with some of the top names in the music industry such as Bruce Bohnstengel, Wayne Bergeron, Dr.Sarah Roberts, Sal Lezano, Chris McGuire, Don Fabian, Jonathan Jones, and many other. As the 2017 Frank Mantooth Scholarship recipient, she endeavored to broader her horizon by studying jazz under the guidance of some of the most foremost players of this day and age.
Her past seasons included appearing as a soloist for a world premieres of 'Insomnia' by American composer Lilian Rivas for the annual SMU SYZYGY 24HC and 'Boomerang' by Logan Rollins. She made her concert debut at age eighteen as a winner of the 2023 Meadows Concerto Competition with the Meadows Symphony Orchestra performing Glazunov's 'Saxophone Concerto' under the baton of Nathan Howard. Aliyah has also had the privilege of performing with the Texas Saxophone Quartet, winders of the 1998 Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition. Ms.Book has performed with the Dallas Winds, the Plano Symphony Orchestra, The Rock Ridge Big Band, The New Philharmonic of Irving, and the Lake Lewisville Orchestra.
A native of Dallas, TX, Aliyah is currently a student at Southern Methodist University double majoring in Saxophone Performance and Music Education under the guidance of acclaimed saxophonist Donald Fabian. In addition to her saxophone expertise, she is also adept at other woodwind instruments such as clarinet, basson, oboe, etc. Ms.Book is a recipient of Southern Methodist University's prestigious, full-ride President's Scholarship at the university's Meadows School of the Arts, where is a participant in the Meadows Wind Ensemble, Meadow Jazz Orchestra, Meadows World Music Ensemble, and various chamber music groups. Aliyah has also been a supporting member in organizations such as SMU's Mustang Marching Band, and a Meadows Ambassador for Prospective students. Ms.Book is a founding member and the Alto chair of the Meadows Saxophone Quartet.
Aliyah happily resides in the Dallas metroplex with her saxophones.
