Get to know Andrew Baker
My experience in music extends from my work towards my degree in Jazz Performance, to gigs and performances around St. Louis. However, the most important part of my career has always been spreading that knowledge through instruction. Teaching for me has always been about two things that go hand in hand: an individualized approach, and making learning fun. I focus on tailoring lessons to the specific needs and interests of the student I have in front of me, focusing on the styles, techniques and theoretical concepts that would be most useful to them, be it for a gig they have tomorrow or a lifelong passion for something in music. Learning must also be made fun and enjoyable, to make the information really stick in a student's mind. Because I use these approaches, instructing in a variety of genres and styles, and teaching a variety of techniques to gain real mastery over the instrument is essential. I have both performance and teaching experience in jazz, rock, metal, pop, blues, and latin music.
